Greetings!
Thanks for your interest in the Coal Creek Cricket Club. A lot of people played for CCCC in the last few years. Hopefully this will continue! In 1999, CCCC had fielded two competitive teams in the league, for the very first time. We continued the trend by fielding two teams for all subsequent seaons. In 2004, we'll field two teams as well.
Please take a moment to read the membership information below. If you do decide that CCCC is the right place for you, please use the team signup sheet, or feel free to contact one of the club officers in the Contact Us section, either by phone, or by email.
Team membership runs from April 1 to March 31st. Dues for the season are due by April 30th, or before playing in a league game for newcomers joining after April 30th. Any person for whom dues would be a financial hardship, or who might need a payment plan of whatever sort, should speak with any officer of the club about this. We can work something out. We would never want to discourage anyone from playing for CCCC for financial reasons.
Membership fees include the use of all team equipment, grounds use, and lunches at team sponsored games and events.
Therecenter are 3 types of membership:
Associate membership:
Associate members are eligible to be on the mailing lists, to participate in all practice sessions, friendly games, and social events of the team. Associate members may vote, but may not hold office. Associate members may play in a league game only if there are not full members available to fill the slot on the team. The fee for associate membership for the year is $50. It is also possible to start as an associate member and later upgrade to full member status by paying the difference in season dues.
Full membership:
Full members are eligible for all the benefits of the associate members plus they are eligible for selection for Colorado Cricket League games, and league knockout games. Full members are also eligible to hold office in CCCC and in the Colorado Cricket League. The dues for full membership for the year is $200.
Student membership:
Any person who is enrolled full time as a student at any of the area high schools, colleges, or universities is eligible for student membership. Students membership is considered a form of full membership and has all of the same privileges. The dues for student membership for the year is $50.
Selection for League games:
Sincere effort will be made to include all full members in at least a few of the season games. Since we are fielding two teams this year this should not be a problem. However we cannot actually guarantee that this will happen for any particular person or particular game. Being a full member does not automatically imply a playing position in all games that the member is available.
The captain (or the vice-captain) of each team will decide on the playing eleven for each game.
All of the following will be considered factors in selection of the eleven for any league game:
- Membership in good standing
- Participation in the club events and effort on behalf of the
club or team
- Participation and attendance at practice sessions
- Seniority with CCCC
- Skill level of the player and particular skills held that may
be needed for a given game or for overall team makeup
- Availability
Practice sessions are very important. Anyone who attends practice will be given opportunities to develop their skills. Officers and other senior or skilled players are almost always available to coach and offer pointers for anyone willing to put the effort into learning. Practice sessions are two days a week (Tuesdays and Fridays) from 5:15 pm until dark.
Since we are fielding two teams in 2002, there are more opportunities for individuals to play. If you have a preference of a team, we'll consider it, but cannot make any guarantees. A separate selection committee will decide on which team you will be asked to play. By league rules, once you play in a league game for one team you many not play for any other team during the season. Practices are jointly held and all other events are joint other than the actual league games and umpiring duties.
There are 8 teams in the league this year. There are 12 regular games plus the knockout games.
Friendly games are most common at the very beginning or end of the regular season. Games are played either on Saturday or Sunday.
There are other teams in the Colorado Cricket league that may also be interested in having new members join them. Especially if you do not live in the Boulder/Louisville area it may make sense for you to join one of these teams instead. We all love cricket in general and our teams in particular. We are very proud of CCCC's successes in the past. We are also proud of the general team spirit and camaraderie. We can certainly understand why people would want to join us!
If you do decide that CCCC is the place for you -- WELCOME!
